The Zig Zag Motel is central to all
of the major attractions in the Blue Mountains region.
Zig Zag Railway
The Great Zig Zag Railway, the original rail line into the Lithgow
Valley, was opened in 1869. The line was hailed as an engineering
masterpiece of the 19th century. Today, the Zig Zag Railway is open
daily, allowing us to experience what it was like in a time before
gas, electricity or the automobile."Friends of Thomas"
and the "Wizards Express" take place approximately once
a month, with bookings essential for these services. Regular trains
depart Clarence Station daily at 11.00am, 1.00pm & 3.00pm.

The Goldfields
of Sofala and Hill End
Visit Australia's "Oldest surviving gold town" Sofala
or travel to Hill End, the town whose history has been forever captured
in the remarkable images of the Holtermann Collection.

Jenolan
Caves
Tours of the caves start at 9:30 normally with the last tour being
around 4:30. During holiday periods these times are extended. Night
tours depart at 8pm on Saturdays. Tours last between 1 hour through
to 2 hours. For most first time visitors it is recommended to include
a visit to the Lucas Cave. For those people wanting to avoid steps
or wanting a shorter tour it is best to go on the Imperial Cave
tour.

Skyway and Echo
Point
One of the most recognisable landmarks in Australia, the Three Sisters
at Echo Point, is only a short trip from the Zig Zag Motel. Experience
the Sceniscender, which takes you on a 545 metre ride into the World
Heritage listed rainforest of the Jamison valley. Walk along the
rainforest boardwalk that will take you to the Scenic Railway, the
steepest incline railway in the world for your return journey.
